Week #32- April 6, 2026
It is already April! It may be hard to believe, but students are entering the final weeks of the 2025-2026 academic year. The final weeks will include many opportunities to learn, but also experiences meant to celebrate a successful year. Classroom events, grade level field trips and activities, and schools-wide efforts will, by intention, balance the expectations of academic rigor as the final push is made for the year.
MES administration will resume weekly communication, with the aim of the message going out by email each Friday afternoon, in an effort to keep you informed about school events. Classroom teachers will communicate using SeeSaw and hard copy announcements to let you know about grade level or classroom activities. There will be some text messages to call your attention to certain announcements, but the effort to put reasonable limits on the quantity of text messages will continue.
Thank you for supporting learning and growth at MES!
Construction Update: The first phase of the MES renovation project is coming to a close. The kindergarten hallway bathroom will be operational this week, with the conference room and renovated Speech rooms following soon after. Phase 2 centers primarily on the 5th grade wing. Demolition work started over Spring Break and, with everyone cleared from this area, work should progress well in the coming weeks. Exterior and interior work will continue on the two additions.
**One special note: Please try not to arrive for the afternoon pick-up line before 2:40 PM. Early arrivals in the large loop impede construction. They do a great job of shutting down movement during the pick-up process, so giving them as much time as possible to work is reasonable on our part.
Other Announcements/Reminders from the MES Office:
From the MES PTO: The PTO officer election will be held on May 27 at the final board meeting. If you are interested in running for an officer position, please email Donna Hoskins (current PTO President) at dhoskins@bridgewater.edu.
Back for its eleventh year, the Virginia Lottery’s Thank a Teacher campaign encourages you to say “thanks” to your favorite K-12 public school teachers.
Now through May 8, send virtual thank-you notes to the K-12 public school teachers in your life, and they could win $2,500 from the Virginia Lottery and its partners at Brightstar and NPi. Additionally, the winning teacher’s school will receive $2,500 in supplies from The Supply Room!
